My Essays for the ISB Application

Just came across the essays I had put in for my ISB applications. Thought I’d share them here:

The ISB culture stresses on a diverse mix of students; life at the ISB is a unique experience for the students. How will your candidature contribute to this culture at the ISB?  (300 words max)

My experience ranging from architectural design to project management and design coordination would help to bring in a different viewpoint to a class that normally has a majority of engineers and commerce graduates. Furthermore my experience in the construction field has trained me to devise and implement creative strategies to overcome problems.  Additionally working with international clients over the past few years has allowed me to understand the European and American mindset and their attention to detail.

Elective Terms (Term 5 & 6) – A Synopsis

I know it’s been too long since I posted here – I know I should have posted earlier – there just isn’t any excuse – I was plain lazy J. Anyways – the elective terms were a roller-coaster ride – with ups and downs you simply cannot believe; and I simply cannot document all . . . .

Term 5

We started the elective terms with a bartending workshop – and I can safely say – all who attended went back totally TALLI – and to top it all off – I had made jello shots – Vodka in Mango Jelly – and you can imagine the results.

The Darden Challenge – what we did

As mentioned in my earlier post – there was a slew of competitions in term 4 and even I succumbed to participating in one. My team-members were Gaurav, Jasmine and Vikas.

The challenge this year was to generate AIDS awareness for the youth in India using the mobile telephone platform. Interesting problem – we spent a lot of time brainstorming on the idea and finally came up with “Cell Cast”. The concept aims to bring home the risks of HIV to every such person; to an extent that he/she takes the increasing threat of HIV seriously and becomes a link in the chain to spreads its awareness. The concept employs the SMS/MMS as the base technology, owing to its high use in the target segment, low costs and standardized tools. The plan was to create short, believable accounts, around various topics related to HIV which shall be transmitted in series via text messages / MMS graphics sent out at times corresponding to the story timelines. Entertaining while involving, the stories would be designed to implicitly communicate the message about HIV while making the threat real and substantive. The story would end with a quiz to drive home the message.

ISB Term 4 – PhotoWalk

Term 4 was unarguably the WORST term at ISB. The subjects (barring INVA) were absolutely useless, there was no point in studying them. I don’t understand why all the useless subjects were concentrated in one term. If you have to have these subjects – at least spread them out over the rest of the terms – better still – make them electives – let the people who want them take them.

However – as usual – this blog is never about studies, it’s about the fun I had during the term. Though I must confess – the term was a major disappointment otherwise too.

Ashish’s birthday had come during the term break – and though we celebrated it in style in Dandeli, the official dunking happened once we came back. The weather was not too cold, and the entire gang was in the pool. We dunked and dunked and dunked:

And of-course there was cake Continue reading ISB Term 4 – PhotoWalk

ISB Term 3 – Photowalk

One of the better terms at ISB – study-wise as well as fun-wise. All the alumni had warned us – term 3 would be the worst ever – the most amount of pressure – killing workload – the world would go crazy – or you would go crazy – so as expected the entire batch was abuzz with apprehension – tension in the air and everybody getting ready to put their nose to the grindstone. But that’s the rest of the batch – this story is about me and how I enjoyed and partied throughout the term
